The Red Light District and surroundings

Red Light District, Nieuwmarkt, Seawall, Trompettersteeg and Old Church

The is part of the Ramparts walk during your visit to Amsterdam. Walk the Oudezijds Voorburgwal and do not forget also to visit the narrowest street in Amsterdam: the Trompettersteeg. This street is only 100 centimeters wide and has windows and red lanterns left and right. It is one of the busiest streets of Amsterdam.

Nearby you can also find the famous Seawall (where you can eat oysters at Nam Kee, known from the famous Dutch novel and film). Take a coffee break (no not at a coffeeshop , even though you can also find enough of those here) on the Nieuwmarkt and at the same time have a look at the 15th-century Waagbuilding.

In this environment you will also find Amsterdam’s oldest building: the monumental Old Church. This monument has a history dating back to the 13th century. The church is located on Old Church Square, just one street from the Trompettersteeg.
