Wangfujing night market with Chinese street food

Wangfujing night market

Scorpions and seahorses on sticks, tofu balls, fried ice cream, roasted birds, noodles with chicken or beef, roti, starfish on sticks, kebabs, bones, fruit and pancakes … You name it, and you can find a stall in the Wangfujing night market that sells it. This is the ultimate place to try out the Chinese street food. In most places the dish is also listed in English or one of the staff speaks enough English to explain what you eat, perfect. The night market is open from about 16:00 to 22:00 and is a vibrant place to walk around.

Tip: Try ‘fried ice’, fried ice cream with a layer of dough around it. One of the best desserts we tasted in Asia.

Location: The night market is located in a side street off the popular shopping street Wangfujing Dajie, called Old Beijing Folk Customs Street (see map).

Please note that in this neighbourhood the Donghuamen Night Market was until recently on Donganmen Dajie (most travel books still tell you this). However, the night market Donghuamen is no longer there, but the night market/ snack street of Wangfujing seems to be its replacement. This night market is as lively and interesting as the stories circulating about his predecessor and worth a visit!
